The sharing of a passion
It all started in 1999, when Ben Goossen – coming from a horse-loving family – purchased the Dommelen Estate in Bilzen, Belgium. After renovating the estate, it quickly became clear that the lush meadows deserved more than just open land: they deserved horses.
While warmbloods had always been part of the family, Ben was drawn to something more refined. The elegance, intelligence, and presence of the Arabian horse were simply unmatched. That same year, he made the switch — and BG Arabians was born.
The journey truly took off with Mambo, a homebred colt by Khidar. He marked the start of a successful show career with victories in Balen, Wels, and Wachtebeke. Since then, BG Arabians has produced numerous high-quality foals from a foundation of strong bloodlines — most notably through Khidar and Ajman.
Key broodmares like Amira (a daughter of Khidar), Bagheera (also by Khidar), and Basilica (a Polish mare) have formed the heart of the breeding program. Over the years, Ben has also worked closely with trusted friends and fellow breeders, including Philippe Looyens, sharing a common eye for type, movement, and quality.
Today, BG Arabians remains a boutique stud with a focus on refined type and expressive movement. Every spring brings the excitement of new foals — each one a reflection of thoughtful breeding, passion, and vision.
